So proud of our library! Built about 1855, overlooks the Oswego Canal and Lake Ontario. (NY) It's the oldest public library still in its original building in the United States. Gerrit Smith was a prominent abolitionist and he agreed to put up the money for the building, stipulating that it "shut out no person on account of their race, complexion, or condition." We were inclusive before it was a thing. ?
RadicalReader @Bluestocking what a gorgeous library can't believe you're so fortunate to go to such a lovely literary place 8y
