Nice, quick audio listen while I work on introspection & add more/different life & self-care priorities for myself. Nothing really new discussed but some reinforcements are nice sometimes too.

🔪: 1

CoverToCoverGirl I never make my bed before breakfast! 🥸🤓 3y
DieAReader @CoverToCoverGirl I don‘t eat breakfast😝 but, I have been making my bed before much else. Progress! 3y

Yeah, I won‘t be getting up at 5am anytime soon, but there are some good reminders in here, like not frittering away your morning hours unconsciously. If you get up and plan to do nothing as a method of relaxation, that‘s cool. But I have too many mornings where I have to be somewhere at 10, I‘ve been up since 7, and at 9:30, I‘m running around my house frantically wondering what the hell happened to all that time.

JaclynW That sounds familiar. Haha! I don't know that I could wake up at 5:30 either. 😳😴 6y
Weaponxgirl I only wake up at that time when I have insomnia and there is no way I‘m ever gonna be productive then. 6y
madamereadsalot1 I wake up every day at 5:15 to start getting ready for work. I can't imagine waking early just to fit more stuff into my day. 😅 6y

For what it was (a pep talk), and its length (really short) I would say give it a read! Good motivational article.

I am obsessed with the idea that you can't be your best if you don't nurture yourself first.

I get up at 4:20 during the week to go to the gym. I read a little with my coffee. I give my dog plenty of pets. I take a long hot shower all before going to work. And while this gets a lot of criticism from others I'm also one of the happiest people I know.

This book had a lot of great insights into why these things are important. Loved it.

Melissa_J Why do people criticize you for your routine? I personally couldn‘t get up quite as early as you do, but I think it would do me good if I got out of bed even 30 mins earlier than I do now. Especially to work out. I hate working out in the evenings after work, and it would make much more sense to do it in the morning (I‘m going to switch to mornings one of these days). 7y
Jess_Read_This @Melissa_J I completely agree with you and also would love to switch to morning work outs. I‘m sitting here at work coming up with excuses to skip the gym tonight. I love your morning routine @Ashley_Nicoletto and you have me interested in this book now too! 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Melissa_J This is exactly why I do! I hate going to the gym after work. I'm tired. Always getting home late. It's so much better for me in the morning. I don't know, but I get so much criticism. From even my friends and family. Mostly it's about how crazy this is and they would never do it. I don't really feel like it's that extreme. I mean bed by 9 and it's still 7.5 hours of sleep. 7y

Ashley_Nicoletto @Jess_Read_This This is exactly what I used to do and there's always a good excuse to skip. Thanks! I'm pretty fond of it even though I realize it's not for everyone. 7y
Alicia I try to do this too! On good days I‘m up at 530 to work out. I also get criticism from people who think I don‘t get enough sleep- and often I‘m only getting 6 hours, but trying to be better!!! 🏋🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ 7y
Rachellynnwright I‘m sorry you‘re receiving criticism for this, I think it‘s amazing!!! You‘ve figured out a way to take care of yourself and be happy! A lot of people (myself included) can‘t claim they‘ve learned to do that! Go you!!! ❤️👍😻🎉 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Alicia Go you! It feels so good to just be done wth it in the mornings. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Rachellynnwright Thanks! ❤️ It works well for me, but don't let me fool you. There are definitely still mornings where I'm all "I'm sleeping in and eating donuts" ?? 7y
Amanda.T I say, if it works for you, keep doing it! 👏🏻👍🏻This was the book that convinced me that it was time to take the leap. Since the new year, I‘ve been getting up at 5:30 to exercise and take care of myself before my toddler wakes up. 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @Amanda.T That's great! I love to listen to or read about the routines of the very successful. Discipline doesn't come naturally to me. Have to force it a little. 😂😉 7y
Amanda.T Thanks! 💕 I love reading about that too. I‘m fascinated with how other people manage to accomplish so much in a day. Time management has never been my strength! 😂 7y
mhillis I haven‘t read this but I like her blog. She challenges the narratives people have about time. I get up in the 4 o‘clock hour and it works for me too😉 7y
Ashley_Nicoletto @mhillis I had no idea that she had a blog! I'm going to have to check it out. I'm definitely interested in her ideas on time. Way to go you for getting up so early. It's nice to spend sometime before the rest of the humans are up. ❤️ 7y
mhillis @Ashley_Nicoletto Hope you like her blog! She shares the books she reads too😍 7y

I give this a tentative 4.5 stars out of 5, mainly because it was slow going in the beginning and didn't seem very original in its advice at first. This may be partly because I read so much in this area. What was most useful to me was all the way in the back of the book, but I took notes and will use it to tweak my life so while technically it deserves 5 stars, I just cant give it that because its only 3 stars in the beginning.

Listened to this on audible. Was a great quick listen. With four boys I find I get A LOT more done in the morning than the evenings. But sometimes sleep trumps the TO DO list;)
