Forgive me for feeling feisty this morning but it seems like every romance book I have read lately where pregnancy is involved... it happens after they only get busy one time!! That is not real life at all people and is frustrating to read for anyone who has to try much harder and doesn't conceive by just touching their spouse. #endrant #resumereading
Lady Constance Morrow comes to Virginia Colony in 1643 as a captive on a ship of "tobacco brides" and quickly marries Drew because he needs help raising his young sister and with household chores.
This marriage-of-convenience is one of the best out there. The characters and the story are complex but still fun to read with a broad range of emotion, including humor. Constance is fiesty and plucky and resilient, and I absolutely adore her.
🎧: I love this story! I chose to reread via audio because I had never heard it before.
BUT I'm just not into the narration and it breaks my heart. It was making me dislike the story and characters, and I can't have that. The narrator is not like I imagined or *can imagine* for Constance or Drew, so I'm switching to print right this second.
I detest DNFing an audio but I love this story too much not to feel like -->😍
Rereading in the dark! And listening to the audiobook. I loooove this story.
