panPicked this up fro the tbr pile with a view to sending it to my 8-year-old niece who has run out of books to read. Well, I won‘t be sending it to her. It‘s sweet and ghostly as I remember, but only in places. This one also has a young Black boy rescued from slavery in it and the depiction is... problematic to me now, so I wouldn‘t want to pass it on to a little one who might get some wrong impressions from it.
