This reread was perfectly timed as the founding fathers have been on my mind a lot since watching Hamilton. The author/illustrator finds joy in the simplest things. She talks about the food she ate on her trip and the people she meets. She gets sidetracked, but that‘s part of the charm. The book explores the lives of a few of our well-known presidents. The whole thing is done in such a lovely, whimsical way that each page is a treat.

This is my hundredth book read in 2018! 🎉🎉🎉 And my third book finished for #24in48. Another quick read, this pays homage to the America of our founding fathers and where it has led us. Maira Kalman is an illustrator and her artwork is gorgeous. I learned a lot from this book and it is very accessible. I am definitely adding it to my personal library in the hopes that my children will read it when they‘re older.

Mollyanna Congrats on book 100! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y

An inspiring delight. This book goes all over in its exploration of democracy and it's wonderful.

This graphic novel is a love letter to democracy. It‘s a sweet, joyful look at our government and the world around us. The goal is not to give a history lesson, but to share some wonderful bits about our fore fathers in a playful way. The illustrated book is big, but it‘s a quick read.
