bailedI'm out. I tried, but I've better things to do!
The start was ok - the technology, ways of working etc. Then we got into who was spying on who, years of papertrails, and the inability to make progress on anything because leaks and urgh.
What it did show (indirectly) is the importance of diversity all the way to the top in any institution, because the small world this lot were from was so tangled/conflict of interest-y they had no hope of 👇
If it wasn't for #readharder #bannedbook, I would totally have bailed by now. The amount of time these guys spent investigating each other is something else. 🙄😖😩😴.

Things I have learned:
1. All the security services were quite inept for quite a long time.
2. Once, someone who'd been to a state school worked for MI5.
3. The author had all the answers, if only people had listened. Still, at least he was single-handedly responsible for any successes/improvements that were made. 🙄
It was moderately entertaining to begin with, but now it's both dry & cringe-inducing.
British Intelligence services, 1950s style.
You know those Pink Panther cartoon episodes, where he dresses up as a painter& decorator or telephone engineer, to get into a building ? All of that!

Has anyone actually read Spycatcher?
These 3 are potential reads for #readharder (book banned/challenged in your country) which were #controversial in their time. Spycatcher was the most recent book to be banned in the UK back in the late 80s. And that went well! I think it's the type of book most likely to stir up a controversy here now.
But I'm sure the others would be a much better read... Advice welcomed!
