In time for Andrea Camilleris 90th birthday, the nineteenth installment in his irresistible New York Timesbestselling Inspector Montalbano Mystery series In Sicily, where people do things as they please, Inspector Salvo Montalbano is a bona fide folk hero. The New York Times Book Review When Inspector Montalbano falls under the charms of beautiful gallery owner Marian, his longtime relationship with Livia comes under threat. Meanwhile, he is also troubled by a strange dream as three crimes demand his attention: the assault and robbery of a wealthy merchant's young wife, shady art deals, and a search for arms traffickers that leads him deep into the countryside, where the investigation takes a tragic turn.

Oh my. My heart is breaking right now. I almost thought Camilleri lost his touch a bit till I got to the end of the book. But no, his reputation remains unsullied. I love this series.

This book in the Montalbano Series seemed familiar to a previous one, and wondered if they were being too formulaic. It wasn‘t until I was 90% into the book and checked that I found out I read it in 2017! I wonder how I managed to read this one out of order! 😗 That said it was a very good story as all the books in this series tend to be, and they are translated well. I thoroughly recommend this series.

Intriguing mysteries for Inspector Montalbano and some melancholy in his personal life. I know it's late, but I can't resist nominating Prosecutor Tommaseo as #JustACreep. His behaviour in relation to young women who are the victims of (often violent) crime is quite revolting. Obviously, the Inspector despises him. #NoFemmeber

CarolynM @thegreensofa It's Field Black on High St in Northcote. It's nice, but my favourites are Kau and Short Round in Thornbury. 6y
CarolynM @Cinfhen Glad you like the photo. 🙂 I knew I'd come across some creeps in my reading but I couldn't think of any for the prompt the other day. When I started reading this book I remembered. 6y
thegreensofa Wow thank you, I‘ll have to check them out! 👏🏻☕️😃📚 6y

Centique What a pretty spot for reading and a coffee 😍 6y
Billypar Agreed with everyone- gorgeous spot! Though hopefully the parts with the creep you described were few enough so as not to spoil the peace of the surroundings 😁 6y

#thefinalcountdown This brings back happy memories - the song hit the charts in my 1st year of college and reminds me of first meeting my wife & the early days of the relationship. Happy memories & 30 years on she is still my best & most endearing friend & my soul mate. In relation to the photo challenge I looked at it slightly differently, Europe were the group & this brings first & foremost one of my favourite European Detectives...Montalbano!

Finished my fourth and final complete book during the #springcleaningreadathon. This was a very interesting book in the Montalbano Series, with quite a few things going on in his personal life.

#springcleaningreadathon Thought I'd go for some light relief and a visit to Italy with Inspector Montalbano on a Saturday evening. This is my physical book reading. If anyone hasn't read this series I thoroughly recommend it and it translates well.
