"Help," he said. "He's not breathing."A tiny baby is rushed to hospital. Doctors suspect he was shaken by his father, who is later charged and convicted. The baby grows up in the care of his mother. Life goes on.Twelve years later, Ethan is a singular young boy. Gifted with an innate affinity for physics and astronomy, Ethan sees the world in ways others simply can't - through a prism of light, time, stars and space.Ethan is the centre of his mother's universe. Claire has tried to protect him from finding out what happened when he was a baby. But the older Ethan gets, the more questions he asks about his absent father.A single handwritten letter is all it takes to set off a dramatic chain of events, pulling both parents back together again into Ethan's orbit. As the years seem to warp and bend, the past is both relived and revealed anew for each of them.Relativity is an irresistible story about love, unbreakable bonds and irreversible acts.

Mehso-so

This book really let me down. The plot was thin, the result anticlimactic, and the story telling was wordy. I was ready for this to be my new The History of Love (a total win for me) and it was far from it.

12 year old Ethan is really smart. He loves science and can do mathematical calculations in his head that I couldn't do in an hour with a calculator. He is raised by his mother and has no memory of his father. The book is told from Ethan's perspective as well as both of his parents'. There are a lot of twists in the plot as we begin to understand what happened in their family. A story of the complexities of denial, guilt, blame, and forgiveness.

Such a tender story, showing us how sometimes terrible things happen to good people.

I really enjoyed this book that tackled some pretty dark subjects. Claire, a former ballerina, lives in Sydney with her intelligent 12 year old sun Ethan. Ethan knows nothing about his father or why he isn't in their lives. Things change when Ethan's father Mark arrives in Sydney. The way this book is plotted is amazing. You learn tidbits of information as the story progresses to the point it reads like a mystery. Plus it is full of physics. 4.5/5

Despite some dark moments, thus novel was sweet, thoughtful, and perfect for a physics nerd.

A story that captivated me. It had something very uplifting about it. You'll learn plenty about physics too! 😊
