Quiet London
Quiet London | Siobhan Wall

Where can Londoners and visitors find quiet places to meet and talk? London is an exciting place to be, but not everyone wants to be in a noisy environment listening to loud music. Perhaps they want to be somewhere where they can read a book, or sit and linger for a while. Many visitors to the capital long to discover places off the beaten track - find a delightful garden to sit in or a tree-lined walk by a river. Busy Londoners are often looking for somewhere to go which is an alternative to lively venues; a place where things are understated rather than grabbing their attention... Quiet London is a guide to quiet places to meet, drink, eat, swim, rest, shop, sleep or read. It includes interesting, attractive places where people don't have to strain to hear each other speak. There are short descriptions for each venue, alongside travel and contact details and simple but atmospheric photographs in colour and black and white.

Velvetfur I've heard about this but never seen it, and I've lived in and around London for coming up to 12 years now! I'm starting to think it's a myth, or it closed a long time ago.... 6y
Velvetfur @JanuarieTimewalker13 Some parts of it are cool but it's mostly annoying as it's full of a-holes that are rude and selfish and it's way too crowded everywhere. I've moved about an hour away from London now and I don't go there unless I absolutely have to! Go to any other UK city instead, discover the 'real' UK! (London isn't!) 6y
kezzlou85 Theres one of these in a village near me. It's such a cool idea. 6y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @Velvetfur ok, but can I fly into Heathrow? Lol 6y
JanuarieTimewalker13 No, sincerely, I do want to see all of the UK. 6y
Velvetfur @JanuarieTimewalker13 Haha, yes I'll allow you to fly into Heathrow! 😂Sorry if I seemed ranty but it does annoy us non-Londoners (I'm from the north) when London shows off to the rest of the world! 😂 6y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @Velvetfur lol, no problem. I want to drink Yorkshire tea in Yorkshire😀I‘m not sure if that‘s North. @Eggs haha, no, thank you!! 6y

In full blown vacation planning for next month. I found these gems at the library. They say that the time you take to anticipate and dream of an upcoming trip makes the vacation richer. If that's the case, this time off will be epic.

LectricSheep I've heard that too! I think research says you should plan trips 6 to 9 months in advance to squeeze all the excitement you can out of it! I never manage to plan that far ahead though. 🙄 7y
Gezemice I am hungry. 7y
MadCatRamble I've used it for a couple of my trips! I love Quiet London! 7y

BooksForEmpathy Have you been before!? I love the planning process. You should see my itineraries!! 7y
HardcoverHearts @BooksForEmpathy - Never! So it's very exciting. I keep getting sucked into work drama so I have to stop planning and start focusing. But I am going in deep again to planning mode this weekend with my notebook set up. 7y
