Mousetronaut
Mousetronaut: Based on a (Partially) True Story | Mark Kelly
3 posts | 5 read | 5 to read
A heartwarming picture book tale of the power of the small, from bestselling author and retired NASA astronaut Commander Mark Kelly. Astronaut Mark Kelly flew with “mice-tronauts” on his first spaceflight aboard space shuttle Endeavour in 2001. Mousetronaut tells the story of a small mouse that wants nothing more than to travel to outer space. The little mouse works as hard as the bigger mice to show readiness for the mission . . . and is chosen for the flight! While in space, the astronauts are busy with their mission when disaster strikes—and only the smallest member of the crew can save the day. With lively illustrations by award-winning artist C. F. Payne, Mousetronaut is a charming tale of perseverance, courage, and the importance of the small!

This one was cute! Kelly was inspired by a mouse in one of his missions.

This SF New York Times best seller is a great story for RA. With a partial biography on astronaut Mark Kelly who flew on the space shuttle Endeavor. In this story Mark flies with a small mouse that wants nothing more than to travel to outer space. This charming story teaches courage and perseverance. Would be a great RA for any classroom.

Beths http://enchantedhomeschoolingmom.org/2014/10/mousetronaut-sensory-bin-game/ is a great resource for a sensory game. This would work well for younger students, ELs, and ESE students. UDL 4 providing options for physical action and EL 46 use discovery learning activities pair well with this story and game. #UCFLAE3414F17 7y
hannahl This is such a fun book for children to read because everyone at that age wants to go to space! I really like the activity you attached and how it is a game instead of just a worksheet. Good job! 7y
