Caught this little old lady being funny this morning...
I finished it and boy, was it a read! :)
Here are my thoughts on the book https://musingonbooks.blogspot.com/2019/05/the-mirror-empire-by-kameron-hurley.h...
This is my first post to Litsy and I figured the best way to start was to state what I'm reading. This book is unlike anything I've read before in all my years of reading fantasy and I must say, I'm enjoying it.
I really have no idea how Litsy works and how I find people to follow, but I expect I'll learn! :)
I will definitely be reading this series to the end, but the first volume had some issues with story progression. Somehow it was all over the place... But the setting and story idea were great!
Different cultures and genders blend seamlessly into the world, but I think the author slippep up with the pronouns sometimes. it shows that even though she created non-binary gender forms, she still categorizes her characters this way.

Oh, snap, you should totally snap up this deal. Hurley is doing amazing stuff in fantasy and sci-fi.
i started this book this morning and it is so good i'm using it to bribe myself to do my chores
definitely looking forward to the rest of this series!
enjoying this, my first Kameron Hurley. it's dark and unusual, imaginative and intriguing. took me maybe 5 chapters to keep characters and plot lines straight but worth the effort. i esp. like the breadth of gender roles in a traditionally gendered genre.
