Feeling like tossing in the towel on the #readingeurope2021 challenge I‘m hosting. Nobody seems to be posting about it. Just it‘s true that when I host something it‘s basically a dud and nobody cares. Might as well just call it off.

This is such a complex book, but it portrays the inner tension Edith Wharton experienced between her American side and her European side with a vividness that is sometimes painful to witness.

I‘m so excited for this! European connections matter more in the uk now than ever and I‘m so so excited to learn more about more other countries in Europe. I‘ve done a count and reckon that so far I‘ve read books from 20 countries in Europe (most of the easy ones to tick off from British bookshops‘ selections) so I‘m going to try and focus on the ones I‘ve never read from before to start 💙💛💙💛💙
