Ok just one last picture... a hole has been dug up in the forest and Zahhak waits in the dark for his victim to fall. Such a fun way to tell a story!

This a Persian tale set in the form of a pop up book with stunningly beautiful artwork and intricately detailed scenes that follow the story of evil King Zahhak (please see related posts for content photos). Little booklets on the side of certain pages open up to reveal even more surprises as you follow the story. It‘s truly a beautiful, creative, unique book and I highly recommend it.

Ok, I‘m in love with this book. Look at the cute feather on the top of Feraydun‘s turban! My grandmother used to have Guinea hens and as a child I loved collecting their polka dotted feathers from their nest and use them as bookmarks :) I just thought they were so unique and beautiful like this book!

GingerAntics The detail is just stunning. 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics It is! It‘s hard to tell in this picture, but there‘s little fish swimming around, delicate purple and blue little flowers growing on the banks of the river, and even a super cute duck flying over the rocks 6y
GingerAntics Oh wow 6y
batsy Oh, this is so delightful! 6y

“King Zahhak was frightened. He ordered his soldiers to go far and wide to find and kill all the infant boys in Persia.”

This story sounds familiar...

GingerAntics It really does? What is with kings killing baby boys? 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics I know, right? And completely pointless because the prophecy still gets fulfilled 6y
GingerAntics EVER. SINGLE. TIME!!! You would think after the first couple guys did it and the prophecy still came true, they wouldn‘t try anymore, but there is always the thought that somehow this new guy thinks he‘s special and he‘s going to get it done. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Notice, you don‘t hear about queens killing all the babies. It‘s always the kings. 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics Yes, exactly! Seriously, when in the history of all prophecies has one not been fulfilled in one way or another? lol. And yes, because rarely women are paranoid psychopaths, though I do sometimes dread going to family reunions 😂 6y
GingerAntics @Faibka women tend to be scary in other ways. At least that‘s how my family is (we have A LOT of women). I don‘t fear any of them are going to be paranoid psychopaths. lol 6y

“Zahhak marched his army to Iran and the Persians crowned him their king.”

The artwork is so beautiful and detailed, a visual delight while you read the story!

GingerAntics They really have put a lot of detail into it. The images are just beautiful. 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics Yes, I just keep turning the pages over and over noticing more things I didn‘t see before. It‘s truly a work of art 6y

“Suddenly, King Zahhak writhed and twitched and screamed in horror as two large, vicious serpents sprang forth from his shoulders.”

I can‘t describe how much fun this book is

Faibka @GingerAntics you‘re going to love it, it‘s so worth it! It has pieces that even move around, others have artwork around them so you have to turn the book, and there‘s some parts you slide to reveal something or change the scenery. It‘s pretty cool 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics I really hope you find it! 6y
GingerAntics I don‘t even know what the story is about, and I don‘t even care. The art has won me over completely. lol 6y
Faibka @GingerAntics I know! At first I didn‘t even notice that there was a story in print at the bottom, lol. I basically got it because of the artwork 6y
Faibka @Lola I know you like beautiful, artful, unique books so I thought this one might interest you. It‘s a pop up and the artwork and creativity is truly amazing! I‘ve posted a few other pictures if you want to check them out :) 6y
