A pretty good, fast mystery read. If you like a western-type setting, game warden protagonist, and a book where you don‘t have to think too much, you can‘t go wrong with a C.J. Box book!

Book number 5 of the Joe Pickett series. Took me a couple books to get invested but I am all in now. The stories can be a little stretched at times but they are captivating and entertaining. Will keep on reading them as I can. Quick reads. Very enjoyable.
This mystery is good and I LOVE Joe Pickett, the Wyoming game warden. However this was my least favorite of the series so far, mostly because of the problems Joe had in his personal life. Still a great story and an amazing series, but I hope Joe‘s issues with his family resolve ASAP.
I listened to the entire book in audio and this is 💯 my favorite audio series. The narrator David Chandler is so fantastic at bringing life to these characters.
As Joe circled the truck, marveling that the only thing that looked intact was the gear #shift knob, Assistant Director Randy Pope showed up. “How did this happen?” Pope asked, touching the metal of the window frame and snapping his hand back from the heat. “I have no idea,” Joe said. “I drove it to work this morning, parked it, and it caught on fire.” #QuotsyMay19
