Gotham Academy Vol. 3: Yearbook
Gotham Academy Vol. 3: Yearbook | Brenden Fletcher
9 posts | 14 read | 7 to read
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! A slew of comics top writers and artists pay tribute to the coolest school in the DC Universe as GOTHAM ACADEMY ends its first semester with a bang! They faced magic, monsters and mayhem-along with quizzes, crushes and dining-hall food-but Olive, Maps and the rest of the Academy gang survived their first term at Gotham City s most prestigious school. Now it s time to look back by putting together their yearbook. But it wouldn t be Gotham Academy if there weren t an all-new, untold adventure on every page! What happens when students sneak into a faculty party full of (mostly) reformed super-villains? What kind of trouble can kids get into at the mall when an elite assassin is their chaperone? And why is Robin, the Boy Wonder himself, interested in Maps maps? In GOTHAM ACADEMY VOLUME 3: YEARBOOK, writer Brenden Fletcher (BLACK CANARY) and artist Adam Archer (SCRIBBLENAUTS: UNMASKED) lead an all-star team of killer creators including David Petersen (MOUSE GUARD), Michael Dialynas (THE WOODS), Hope Larson (BATGIRL), Katie Cook (MY LITTLE PONY), Derek Fridolfs and Dustin Nguyen (LI L GOTHAM), Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl), James Tynion IV (BATMAN ETERNAL), Annie Wu (BLACK CANARY), Rafael Albuquerque (AMERICAN VAMPIRE), Steve Orlando (MIDNIGHTER) and more! Collects GOTHAM ACADEMY #13-18 and GOTHAM ACADEMY ANNUAL #1."

Liked the format of this third volume. Different artists brought on board to draw different yearbook story "flashbacks" made it visually interesting.

This is the comic book equivalent of a clip show. The students look back on their year and reminisce about adventures they have had. Each adventure is presented as a 2-3 page story, each with different artists. The lack of cohesion in the artwork is a little off putting. The stories themselves are cute, but don't really advance the story arc by much. This could have been so much better.

While I've greatly enjoyed the Gotham Academy series, this volume didn't feel as strong as its predecessors. The different small stories throughout Mia's book are hit-or-miss. The art shift with each story is unique, but can be a bit jarring at times. However, I still enjoyed the main storylines and look forward to the next volume. #comics

Not my favourite in the series, but still fun.

This volume of Gotham Academy is a series of vignettes by guest writers and artists. I'm not sure I love it, but this panel cracked me up. Professor Scarlet loves books as much as littens!

I got this in the mail this week and figured I would check it out right away. I am still kind a newbie when it comes to DC comics, but I enjoy this series. This was a yearbook/scrapbook edition that was a collection of lots of shorter stories with art by different artists. It was fun! Looking forward to volume 4 and the Lumberjane crossover! (This is the only picture out of like 10 Chloe wasn't moving in.) #catsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy
