The Well-Wishers
The Well-Wishers | Edward Eager
2 posts | 9 read | 1 to read
The wishing well is all used up, its magic drained, its enchantment gone dry. Or has it? In a reckless moment, Gordy threatens the old well, telling it to get going with its magic or else! and that seems to do the trick. Suddenly Laura, Lydia, James, and Kipwho feared their autumn would unfold without magicare plunged into just the sort of outlandish adventures they'd longed for. But is it really the well's magic that transforms troublemaker Dicky LeBaron from ne'er-do-well to hero? Or keeps Appledore's orchardand love lifein bloom? Or sends James on a doubly daring rescue of a damsel in distress? What does it matter? Sometimes the best kind of magic is the kind that isn't so magical at all. . . .

Do you ever "round robin" read? When I have a block of time to really sit and read, I find myself reading a chapter a time of several books!! But when life is busy and I have to fit my reading into bits and snatches, I can only focus on one at a time.

Really enjoying a lovely lazy June Saturday. Took a drive, took a hike, and now just reading!! Life is good!

Prairiegirl_reading I‘ve got some heavier non-fiction on the go and when it‘s gets too much I switch to a lighter YA and then I feel guilty because it‘s too light. 🙄🙃🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Prairiegirl_reading - my husband & I are big read-while-we-eat people (supposedly terrible for health & relationships, but we seem to be okay 😂) so I often keep my nonfiction at the table to read during meals - a bigger chunk of time to soak it in, and a nice place to set what is usually a heftier tome! Then I tuck my lighthearted fiction reads into all the other spaces of the day haha Lately I just haven't had the brain space for nonfiction! 4y
Prairiegirl_reading @TheAromaofBooks I think maybe only bad for the relationship if one is reading and the other wants attention! Lol! That‘s the story of my life. 🤣 I also don‘t have much brain space for non fiction but I‘m trying. Struggling to strike the right balance. One is too much and one doesn‘t fell like enough. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

Bookwormjillk I do that sometimes, more now that I‘m home and don‘t have to pack a book 4y
rabbitprincess That‘s really the only way I read! I tried reading only one book at a time once and it was physically painful 😂 In normal times I have a bus book, a work book (for reading at lunch), an audiobook, Serial Reader books, Overdrive ebooks, and physical books I read at home. I read a bit at a time from everything and then finish three at once 😂 4y
vlwelser I round robin almost always. Unless I'm totally sucked into something. 4y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I can‘t! 😅🤣 I‘m so impressed with all of you that are able to do this! I really can‘t stand doing it myself for some reason. Two at a time is usually my max. 🤷‍♀️ 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Usually just when I'm participating in a buddy read - I'll read a chapter or section first thing in the morning then move on to another book. Sometimes I'll swap to another if I'm reading for a long time or on the go and switch formats. 4y
JaclynW Yes! Lots of books for different times of the day/mood. 4y

All of Edward Eager's books are terrific. I highly recommend them, residual as read-alouds.
