Lord Gideon Haverston wanted to right his family's wrongs. So when he promises young Winnefred Blythe the money that his stepmother had cheated her out of over the years, he expects to be greeted as a hero. But the situation is much more complicated than Gideon had expected-and the task of taming the untrusting Winnefred much more alluring.

Comfort reread.
Impoverished lady. Secondary romance. Cursing in French. PTSD. Carriage sickness.
This book is perfect when I'm unfocused and/or unhappy.

random_michelle Do you play an instrument?”

“Do you know any French?”
A corner of her mouth hooked up. “A bit.” She cleared her throat. And then proceeded to recite a list of French invectives so extensive, so obscene, that she actually hit upon one or two he‘d never before encountered.
He gaped at her for a moment. “It is a sad state of affairs, indeed, when a young lady can out-swear a sea captain.“

Managed to stay awake to finish book #4 for #readathon... a decent enough romance, refreshingly different.
