The “long” part was about the heart, a place in the heart where a family met and lived together. They didn‘t just put up with each other. They longed for each other. 5/5⭐ Haven't been this emotionally compromised since Rilla of Ingleside in 2015. Harper grapples to find her own voice amidst her neglectful upbringing, her lack of friends, the struggle of growing up w/ parents who offer no guidance. I related to her love of books so much, the way they comfort & inspire thought. The literary themes culminated in a perfect epilogue.
