This was a super inspiring book! I feel like we always hear about the male astronauts and they get all the glory, but this book highlights the females! It is so great to see and I would love to have this in my classroom.
Almost Astronauts by Tanya Lee Stone is a collection of biographies. It was published in 2009. This book is comprised of twelve different biographies on female astronauts. It gives their life stories, successes and challenges. The stories are each so detailed and well written. These are empowering stories for young and old people to help them realize that women are so strong and on the same tier as men.
I think this would be a good book for students to read so they can learn more about the struggles women used to go through.

This is about women becoming astronauts. this book talks about what you have to do to become one.
I love this piece because it shows the nerves and excitement for this launch and how others are reacting to it as well!
Love this photo! Such a nice way to tie the information into a photo and bring it to life :)
Published in 2009, this biography of women who dared to dream was inspiring and accurate in the story of women working with NASA. Not only was this book providing the journey for these women, but also providing information on the trip, the prep, and so much more! Such an inspiring and captivating story for children to dive into!

Tanya Lee Stone won the 2010 Sibert Award for this amazing NF book, that could be used as an IR. In 1958, there was an unspoken rule: astronauts were male AND white. This book is about 13 women who striped to prove everyone wrong and even challenge the government. This book is a truly inspirational one and a great book to have in the classroom.
