I thought it was ok. Wasn‘t really surprised I managed to fly through in only a few hours. I don‘t really have strong feelings about it either way.

I chose this one as an #unconventionalromance between a trans person and a pan person. It was good because it made the characters individuals instead of trying to make them stand for larger groups. Still, the writing was fairly standard and I did not find anything in the plot surprising.

Pickpick

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I actually almost didn't pick this one up because I took a look at some of the reviews on goodreads beforehand (most were mediocre at best), surprisingly I actually enjoyed it! I can definitely see why others don't/won't like it, eg. the main character Jess is very focused on her own problems and forgets about others, so she comes across as selfish, but for some reason that didn't bother me 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm glad I ended up picking it up!

I haven't read this one and I probably won't because of the fatphobia CW, but I've seen ownvoices reviewers saying the trans rep is good, even though it's not ownvoices.

TW/CW: transphobia (from MC's dad), fatphobia, deadnaming and misgendering (MC not fully out).

I realized while reading this best-friends-go-on-a-road-trip-and-learn-about-themselves-and-each-other book that I'm not the biggest fan of that genre. The book felt a little claustrophobic, like the car they drove in. Definitely some things to like, though, including this quote, a throwaway comment by a minor character they meet: "People are always more than one thing." A great reminder in this book all about identity and perception.

Kris10 I 💗 that cover! 7y
RebL This is on my shelf but never seems to make it to the top of my TBR. Maybe it'll just stay in the middle for now. 7y

My next read, from the TBR pile. Not to be confused with my next read, from the Rereading pile (which is #CharmedThirds). I also need to start #HoldingUpTheUniverse. . . I'm very behind on my reading. I blame being employed.
