13 posts | 9 read | 2 to read
Bertie's respite from his overbearing mother, Irene, is over. She has returned from the middle-east, only to discover that her son has been exposed to the worst evils of cartoons, movies and Irn Bru, and her wrath falls upon her unfortunate husband, Stuart. Meanwhile, Bruce has fallen in love with someone other than himself; Big Lou wants to adopt her beloved Finlay; Matthew and Elspeth host the Duke of Johannesburg for supper and Bertie decides he wants to move out of Scotland Street altogether and live with his grandmother, Nicola. Can Irene and Stuart's marriage survive? Will Bruce's newfound love last? And will Bertie really leave Scotland Street? Find out in the next instalment of this charming, beloved series.

So. Thinking about what I‘m going to read for #SeriesLove2023. Saw some holes in some of my series. Checked out Book Outlet. (There‘s a sale!) Found two I needed. Added 4 more to get free shipping! And so it goes. #bookhaul

TheSpineView You wouldn't want to to miss that free shipping!🤣 2y

The Symbolism of Scones

rabbitprincess To me scones symbolize "a conveyance mechanism for clotted cream" ? Enjoy! 7y

Going on a road trip for Labor Day so picked up the audio version of the book I'm currently reading. I also have plenty of books for when we actually get there. This is book 11 in the 44 Scotland Street series--I like this series a lot. It's about the only series that I currently keep up with. It's full of quirky characters and lots of insight into modern Scottish culture.

Mehso-so

There have been better instalments of this series. I thought this was kind of bland. Also, there is never enough Bertie.

Pickpick

Pretty good, not quite as strong as some of the others. Would have liked a Pat storyline and way more from Big Lou.

Good Sunday morning, mamas. One is playing blocks, one is dozing quietly, and I have a book and coffee. #lazySunday

There's just something so damn comforting about reading McCall Smith this time of year especially. That damn Bruce, though! Can't stand that guy.
