Turning to some choice alliesthe handsome, prescient Lieutenant Brooks, the brilliant, enigmatic Lord Desmond, and her rapscallion cousin JamesAlex will have to marshal all of her magical and mental acumen to save Queen and Country from a shadowy threat. I enjoyed this although it was a bit of a mash-up of several genres...historical mystery/thriller, steampunk, romance, paranormal, urban fantasy....might be easier to say what it's not, right?! A bit convoluted at times, but I liked Alex (the heroine) and the myriad of adventures that she finds. This was supposedly the start of a 3-book series written in 2015 but can't find any info on subsequent books. 😜 #romantsy #osrbc

For me, the ending saved the book.

Boxing Day book haul part 1. Part 2 should arrive early next week. To all those who have posted about #bookoutlet in the past month, my lack of self control and empty bank account do not thank you, but my bookshelves surely do! 😏😉

Ok at the beginning. About this psychic Sherlock Holmes style assertive female character. Then some magic/fantasy forced scenes appeared which had not connection with the story. A chaos sometimes to follow the plot! Terrible end.The book was highly recommended but definitely is not for me. 2 ⭐️⭐️just to be fair with the beginning of the story and for the effort to develop the main character. But maybe one and half ⭐️should be enough. 😳
