I liked learning a little bit more about the artist Henri Matisse and his creations beyond his paintings. I can see this going well with a Storytime activity - kids can cut out shapes and make their own garden just like Matisse. Colorful illustrations. Fun, quick read. #BBRC #PictureBook #LetterH
When Henri was a young man, he drew pictures in his law books and on contracts, deeds, and wills.
It seems like there are always a handful of children who always love to draw. I think that they could find true inspirations from this, or someone who has some kind of disability could find inspiration and see that they can do anything they love.
Yet again, another true inspirational biography. This is great because it sends the message that you can overcome any hardship and do what you love. Even when Henri became bound to a wheelchair he created his best known work.
In third grade we read Henri‘s Scissors and created our own collages by “drawing with scissors” just like Matisse 🎨❤️ #teachersoflitsy #kidart
I think it will work nicely for my Kindergarteners. It's a simple introduction to his life and why he turned to cut paper art and a little of how he did it and his subject matter. My students will love expanding on this with their own artwork!
