pickThe first part of the story begins in 1969 and we follow the story of three teenage orphans who spend their days helping in a civilian hospital. This part ends with the evacuation and from here we follow their totally different life paths. The story is told by different narrators, driven by external events, the structure is fragmented, the timeline skips decades, which makes the story dynamic ... but this form of narration is ... 👇
Simona ... also what does not allow for deeper characterisation. Sensual prose, a dynamic and interesting story about a part of Lao history unknown to me, but I really missed a more complex characterisation. Between pick and so-so. 4y
