holy shit but this was a good, good book. highly recommend!
just one of the many no-punches-pulled passages in this book. definitely worth it.
this is the book i‘m reading for fun while working on my dissertation. despite its rigor, it‘s very easy to read and i‘m getting through it quickly!
i really wanted to like this book but it had too many YA tropes and devices for my tastes—not that YA is bad or anything, i am just not fond of the genre (and this was shelved under general fantasy in the bookstore). if YA is your thing, you will probably like it much more than i did! the use of poetry is unique, and the goblin market allusions are good too.
with all my other work handed in, it‘s time to focus exclusively on dissertation stuff.
i‘m swamped in academic papers for the foreseeable future, but sometimes i get to read things for fun still
i adored A Memory Called Empire, and i can‘t wait for the next one!
