Gift from a friend! Blessed 2023 it is!
one of my favorite reads this year.
a staycation at a local Hyatt with my 11yo and of course, a book
Talks about Juggalos. Difficult to put down… Phoebe Prince was mentioned but it‘s about the late Adrianne Reynolds.
Was a great read. No picture. It‘s in my Kindle.
Compared to Know My Name by Chanel Miller (I read them back to back), this is it. Without disregarding my compassion toward what they‘ve been through, this book was a fight. A fight she had to put up with for years. If you‘re thinking of Know My Name, I suggest you drop it (it‘s one of the two books that I‘ve rated 1 star).
Reads better than any other spy thrillers.
Simply put - my star review reflects my opinion of the book and not lack of compassion towards the author‘s life and experience.
I found the book overly repetitive. Put off with flowery writing (e.g. zipper - little gold teeth). Chapter 12 onwards was okay. Also the part where the author stressed "I'm CHINESE!" - I thought you're Asian American. Half Caucasian, half Chinese. Anyway. That was a major turn-off.
Good morning! Continuing this read from months ago. Also, waiting for an appointment to suffice...
Before you begin to trust the 1 star reviews on Goodreads - sift through their profiles. You'll figure it out.
can't wait to start this... soon.......
hadn't've. wish more people w/could write this way.
trippin' somewhere... full flight, midnight...
Taking a break from Trump and Putin. Not in the zone... Just started this. 17 pages in... I'm smoking again... Old habits die hard. Quit in 2009.......
LoL... Not funny but still...
This is how you roll at the cafe with a book. Drink between you and the world you're getting into.
Excuse the warm light but I think I'm quite blue lately 😉 anyone here an avid reader and into bujo? I'm new to bujo, but I've been journalling for decades. long-hand, btw.
P.s. Please don't judge me for reading this! I just prefer books by investigative journalists!
Ok. Let the read begin. With a boba, again!!!?☝️also it doesn't help that my eldest keeps pointing at Trump's son-in-law, saying, of all names, "Johnny English!"
Ok. Who else here buys pocket sized books just so that it fits into their bag? I do. I carry a Kindle with me all times. But sometimes, I really just wanna hold a book. So I carry both...
So much to highlight. I'm an adoptee myself. And more. Reading this book is a painful experience, but oddly, a really good read.
I love this book. But I can't seem to absorb anything much. The only thing I remember was drinking a big glass of water the next thing after brushing your teeth. Nutrition is for the ultra rich. Normal people like me? We try to get by.
That's the airport runway. Across the runway is the sea.
You can't tell but this café is almost literally next to the airport runway and I love it. It's my new hideout. Also, the book is kinda okay.
Drinking boba and catching up on my very-late-delivered issue of Bookforum!
One of those rare true crime bookish moments where I don't want the book to end so quickly...
Haven't watched Bohemian Rhapsody, probably because my subconscious mind has been telling me to finish this book first since it's been buried in my Kindle even before the movie was made... So here I am!
Good for you, Lucas. Or maybe not. This is my 3rd Kathryn Bonella book, maybe that's why I gave it a so-so (3 stars) cos it felt repetitive.
Awesome read. Pretty sure I could finish this today and then, once again, continue with the other and hope I'll finish it by the end of the month 😆
Reading lately has been like, meeting my storyteller once every few days, and always short. Well. Better than not being able to read anything I guess.
getting my tires changed. Is it horrible to say this to your kids - "okay boys, go read some car magazines and let me read my book."? one of my boys is so hyper and talkative I feel bad for reading because he's so chatty he needs me to indulge him all the time.......
Finally, finished the remaining 30% during our monthly book club meet-up!
Still at page 99. The book is awesome. It's my kids. My kids. They won't "let" me read. Which is why I only read at night. But afternoons. Man. Can't waste an entire afternoon not reading??? So I read two pages across four hours most afternoons. REALLY. #fml
actually, waiting for my boba 😆 and some time to pass before I grab one rugrat from school...
