Bone Gap | Laura Ruby

Pickpick

The people of this small Illinois town experience a not so ordinary situation when their new foreign sweetheart, Roza, disappears suddenly, with only the bad explanation of, Finn, a strange teenage boy to help. Finn and his older brother Sean must search to no ends to find out who took their friend, Roza, while discovering things about themselves along the way. This book will have you attached to the unique characters from the very start.

rosekrause If you like books of mystery and riddles, you will certainly like this one. Like many novels, “Bone Gap“ is written in the third person omniscient point of view, although, the author will write the story from different perspectives. For example, the author writes, “As for Finn, well, they thought he was a little weird, but that was okay with them. 'Yeah, that boy's nuttier than a honey cluster,' they might say“.

The Flick | Annie Baker

Pickpick

This story follows the stale friendship of three underpaid coworkers at the local run down movie theatre. We see a series of events and conflicts following the three characters Sam, Avery and Rose. I find the atmosphere quite similar to the film, Napoleon Dynamite. If you enjoy that type of awkwardness, then you will love this Story.

rosekrause A recurring motif that was quit prominent in this script was the amount of pauses. I believe Annie Baker intentionally wrote it that way to show the uncomfortable nature of their friendship. I 100% would recommend this bizarre book to others! 5y
