Just in time for the weekend! Can't wait to get started on this book...
Today, as I was about to read the last pages of the book, I found a postcard with a Langston Hughes quote: "My soul has grown deep like the rivers."
Coates' letter to his son is like an extended version of Hughes' poem, but ending in our time.
This is such a well-written and thought-provoking book, and it will definitely stay with me both as a reference book to American history and culture as well as a work of great writing.
