Dark, intense, gripping emotional

Quirky and compelling. A really unusual read...the pages effortlessly turned but weird at the same time..

I'm struggling to find words...how can a book be so gently written yet show the pain, the cruelty, the indignity of war? Through the point of view of a few flawed characters we are given a glimpse of the past...probably all we can grasp at this distance-painful, emotional, exquisite...beautiful.
