This novel was amazing, and it is now my new favorite book. The prose was lovely. The characters were unforgettable. The themes resonate with the reader. Those who call the book “boring” or “irrelevant” have failed completely to grasp the purpose and concept of the book. It isn‘t meant to be full of twists and turns; it is meant to comment on the darkest aspects of human nature. This book will be with me for years to come.

All of them, all except Phineas, constructed at infinite cost to themselves these Maginot Lines against this enemy they thought they saw across the frontier, this enemy who never attacked that way— if he ever attacked at all; if he was indeed the enemy.
