I am full of disbelief. How has this author escaped my notice for so long? I'm only about 40 pages in, but I'm already really, really loving his style. Mieville's use of language is wonderfully creative and oddly challenging. I got borrowed this one from the library, but I can already tell you I'm definitely going to want this one in my permanent collection. Also, my TBR has now increased to include his other stuff as well. 😆
So, how do you?
Well...I'm not really sure how I feel about this one. While it was a reasonably entertaining and somewhat compelling read, I'm left not really able to definitively point out what the overall *point* of the book was. I don't really want to spoil it for anyone else, so I'll just say this: I'm not sorry I read it, but I'm not sure I can say I really *liked* it.
These are the books I brought home from the library just before Snowpocalypse happened here. I finished The Lost City of the Monkey God and The Watchmaker of Filigree Street. Got some posts on those coming soon.
I can't express how excited I am on finding out that F. Paul Wilson is continuing to write books in The Secret History. I loved the Repairman Jack books, and I'm pleased to see the emergence of a couple of new characters that are as intriguing as Jack was. Where are my fellow RJ fans? How did you all like this one?
