A fascinating series of vignettes in a post-Miracle world that really shows off Buckingham's artistic versatility. The Prisoner-esque "Spy Story" and Andy Warhol-influenced "Botes from the Underground" are particular standouts.
"Got to do a wash, she thought as she filled the bowl with Spirit Bits, roasted oats shaped into faces. Supposedly they represented divine Beings and would give you a sacred infusion as you ate them. Grinding God with your teeth."
Found Rachel Pollack's "Unquenchable Fire" at Half Price Books. Only one chapter in, but so far awesomely weird in the best way. Densely constructed and very imaginative. More thoughts coming as I progress through it...
