This book was pretty good - mostly action and tension building, romance at the end. Only thing I really didn't like is all the mentionings of how the main character was independent and couldn't let this guy close. It happened too many times, making it repetitive. I liked the book as a whole though.
The way is not always straight or clear but don't doubt the path.
"There was a curious peace in this day, a sense of things working quietly in their proper courses, nothing minding the upsets and turmoils of human concerns. Perhaps it was the peace that one always finds outdoors, far enough away from buildings and clatter. Maybe it was the result of gardening, that quiet sense of pleasure in touching growing things, the satisfaction of helping them thrive."
"There was a confused noise of shouting nearby, which reminded me of the sounds I had heard, and felt, in the stone circle. The ring of inhuman violence was lacking, though; this was the normal sound of human conflict, and I turned toward it."
I absolutely loved this book. So heart warming and simultaneously heart wrenching. Made me want to laugh and cry all in one sitting. It was a great read! I will definitely read more from this author.
Life among academics had taught me that a well expressed opinion is usually better than a badly expressed fact, so far as profession advancement goes.
How could I explain... what Will and I had been to each other, the way I felt that no person in the world had ever understood me like he did or ever would again? How could she understand that losing him was like having a hole shot straight through me, a painful, constant reminder, an absence I could never fill.
I really loved this book! So much so, that before I finished it I knew I would need the sequel asap so I ordered it online and it made it the day after I finished this one! This book was seriously intense. I haven't had a book make me laugh and cry like this one since the Harry Potter series. Highly recommend!
