Saw the great movie adaptation and now I am reading the memoir it was based upon. As much as I liked the film, I‘m glad to get the more detailed story from the book.

Spent most of my morning reading and finishing this 1947 tale of a young girl who marries a Mountie and lives at a remote outpost in Canada in early 20th century. Good storytelling. Blurb says "heartwarming" on this paperback but it is not a light read - very tragic at times. A little like my experience of reading Lonesome Dove in some ways, though more romantic in terms of plot.
Just heard about this book today and later saw and bought it at Barnes & Noble.
"We travelled for Science."
Reading for the R.I.P. Challenge. They don't make covers like this anymore.
