Warning: this book is graphic and sad. I read this book in a couple of days and could not put it down. It is a story I think about often. Forstchen explores the implications of a world reliant on technology when society collapses. The main character serves as a lens through which to view the lives around him. It's absolutely heartbreaking. I will probably not read it again, but I am glad I read it.
What a gorgeous book. It is junior fiction, so it is an easy read. I felt that the author really kept the innocence and naivety of the main character. The young girl has lost her friend to a drowning accident and convinces herself that the Japanese man o' war is responsible. With complex emotions and a childlike lens, the author explores guilt and grief in a beautiful way. 100% recommend.
I love this series. There is a concerning rape scene, but I did not feel that it was too graphic or overwhelming. Briggs did a good job expressing the gravity of the situation and the emotional trauma that comes with it. Because Mercy had advocates and protectors, this event is not all-comsuming. It does get brought back up in the next few books, but Mercy heals and moves on. I was very impressed with Briggs' tact in writing this.
I really love these books! They do not have a huge amount of depth, but the characters are relatable. I found this series as a 20-something looking for reads that were closer to my stage in life. This checked all the boxes - with steamy romance and bad ass women.
I really enjoyed this book! It held my attention from the first page. The main character had conflicting roles between his passion and his family, and I feel that both were explored thoroughly. The magic and world-building were amazing! Rachel Caine has seriously outdone herself. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
I was very disappointed in this book. I felt that the story was lackluster and could have used more development. The characters were stagnant. I was unimpressed by the writing style.
There is one scene that stands out to me, where the main character is caring for her ailing father. That scene could have been written so much more tenderly. As someone who has gone through those same emotions and actions, I felt this scene was a gross imitation.
I separate my books into two categories: vacation books and literature. This was definitely a vacation book. I enjoyed the story for what it was - simple and smutty. I don't think these books deserve the reputation they have gained, but it's not something I will be exaulting.
Beautiful story and characterization. It's a story I come back to every couple of years, and one I think of often. I enjoy Cashore's writing very much.
Absolutely stunning. The art and story are mesmerizing. I look forward to each new episode every week.
Absolutely stunning. I loved every second of this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pretty well all the same things I said about the previous book in this series. I‘m really disappointed that the final book is not out yet :( I am definitely looking forward to it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
100% recommend. This story was heartbreaking but so well told. I could not put it down. Ng is a fantastic writer and every one of her books touches my heart in a different ways
A fun, smutty, vacation read. St Clair definitely did her research and held true to the essence of the myth but still managed to make it fresh and exciting. The story felt cliche at some points, but I enjoyed reading it.

"I have administrative bones to pick with god, boo. I'll say god seems to have a kind of laid back management style I'm not crazy about. I'm pretty much anti-death. God looks by all accounts to be pro-death. I'm not seeing how we can get together on this issue, he and I, boo."

I have yet to finish the series, but I still crave to read it!
This trilogy will always be one of my favorites. It's so well written and complex; every read through is exciting.

Working my way through Paulo Coelho. This book really makes you think about passion, and what living is actually about.
