If you are a fan of Cold Feet some of the characters will have a very familiar feel.

Although the book is set in London you will find yourself very quickly visualising the characters in the book as characters from the TV series.

The story follows the relationships of 2 couples when trust breaks down.

A good beach read.

Some nice comedy touches. Would have enjoyed this more if the characters were slightly less generic.

Fantastic evening at the Cityread event at The Charterhouse , London. We were whisked back to London in 1583 in a fully immersive theatrical performance based on SJ Parris's Prophecy. We donned cloaks and entered the world of Giordano Bruno, William Fowler and the shady world of Tudor spies.
Can't wait to get cracking with the book now. Thank you for a wonderful evening Cityread. See you next again year.

zsuzsanna_reads This sound amazing! 8y

To Be a Cat | Matt Haig

What's not to love about this book?! -Great plot, great illustrations and a little drawings of a cat at the bottom corner of each which transform in to a animated flip book. I read this before the boys, but I think they are going to love it.

So what's it about?

A boy, a missing father, and unlikely friendship with a barge girl, an Evil headmistress and a cat.

Three chapters into one of the most amazing biographies I have ever read. Totally captivated. Some times fact is stranger than fiction.

This is a book that will stay with me for a long time.

Beautifully written. Honest. Heart breaking, thought provoking and inspiring by turn.

An autobiography in which a gifted young doctor writes a personal account of his terminal illness. We follow the difficult journey from being a doctor to becoming a patient.

I Found You | Lisa Jewell

I finished this book on my train journey yesterday. I really enjoy Lisa Jewell's writing style. She draws you in and you are totally hooked before you know it.
A mysterious man who has lost his memory turns up in a Yorkshire seaside town. He is befriended by a family who are themselves outsiders in the town. What's his story?
A beautiful twisting plot that will keep you guessing to the very end. A true page turner.

Pickpick

It's hard to find exciting historical fiction for children. Black Powder is a gem. Set in the days leading up to the Gun Powder plot we follow the adventures of Tom Garnett and Jago his pet mouse as Tom tries to right a wrong he has done. A wonderful tale of high life and low life in Stuart England, woven through with spies and plots and the mysterious Falcon. The whole family loved it.

Our Easter theme this year is historical plots. We went to The Tower of London last week and the boys did the new interactive history trail app. Now we are really enjoying reading Black Powder which is all about the Gun Powder plot as seen through the eyes of a young boy Tom Garnett and his cheeky mouse called Jago. We are wearing our perfect plotting badges we earned at the Tower with pride!

Really enjoying reading Harry Potter the second time around. First read the books as they were published and before I was a mum. Now enjoying reading them to my children. They are truly the most wonderful stories to read aloud at bedtime.

Today I was the girl on the bus rereading Girl on the Train. One of those days when I was poorly prepared and finished my book on the morning commute...so had to re-read a favourite from my work locker library on the journey home.
