This was one of those books that you‘re sad about ending! I loved it. It is the story of generations of a family struggling with the aftermath of World War 2, the Korean War, and the Cold War. I learned *so* much about the Korean-Japanese experience, and followed the lives of several complicated and beloved characters. Two thumbs up from me!

I accidentally read this prequel series out of order about a year ago. I needed something light and the newest book is out, so I‘m re-reading them again! I love that this romance starts with the main characters getting stuck on a roof for several chapters; a fun, creative way to watch the tables turn on two old acquaintances who learn to love.

Worth the read, definitely not my favorite JQ novel
