Got into this series expecting a nice, coming of age story with magic. Am now thoroughly heart broken and yet eagerly awaiting the next book.

Can't figure out how I feel about this book. On the one hand, the premise and plot are fascinating and it has a rich cast of characters. However, the main characters continue to frustrate me on how they insist on creating more problems for themselves in every step of the way. They ARE children, but that can only explain so much. The rest of the books seem like much of the same, so I think this is where this series and I part ways.
A nice, tidy ending to the series. Was not a big fan of the new cast nor the sudden change to first person narrative, but mostly stuck it through for the recurring characters.
An enjoyable read with distinct, relatable characters and a decent overall plot. And a dragon, in case anyone was still on the fence. Giving major props to this book for highlighting a male-female friendship that doesn't have underlying romantic tension and is shown as just as important as the romantic relationship. Will definitely be reading the next book!
