I read this in a day, and it made me cry. Even though it's a children's novel, everyone should read it. If you work with young kids, you should read it. Especially if you work with LGBT youth or think a child may be LGBT. George is a 4th grader that knows he is really she, Melissa, and wants to audition for the role of Charlotte in Charlotte's Web. I won't give spoilers but this is a book that more people should know about.

"And America, too, is a delusion, the grandest one of all. The white race believes - believes with all its heart - that it is their right to take the land. To kill Indians. Make war. Enslave their brothers. This nation shouldn't exist, if there is any justice in the world, for its foundations are murder, theft, and cruelty. Yet here we are."

"To this day, because I know no other way of being or feeling, I don't know what it's like to be a woman in a band - I have nothing else to compare it to. But I will say that I doubt in the history of rock journalism and writing any man has been asked, "Why are you in an all-male band?" (111).
