I should stop reading books set in and around bookstores because I always end up frustrated and disappointed no matter how good the book may be otherwise. I have a librarian friend who says the same is true for librarians and libraries and it's likely true no matter which profession you're in.

LiteraryinPA I feel the same way!! It has happened to me with AJ Fikry, The Readers of Broken Wheel, Little Paris Bookshop, etc... 5y

Mehso-so

The dog was the best character.

Both Justine and Nick were rather selfish and self-absorbed and occasionally downright insufferable. I don't know if I feel like either of them had earned their HEA by the end. Most of the supporting and peripheral characters, though, were interesting and a few were absolutely delightful.

The dog, though? Brown Houdini Malarkey was the absolute fucking best.

Pickpick

I've had the ARC for ages and finally felt like I was in the right mindset to read it. I'm usually one to devour books, but this one, I'm savoring. Jemisin's characters and world-building are so rich and deep and complex and she amazes me more with every book.

BillBlume Haven't read book two yet (got it bought and on my bookshelf), but I'm a huge fan of the first book. Been a fan of Jemisin for years. She's just damn amazing. 8y
