Sullivan begins by letting you know what he had to fictionalize which allows the book to read like nonfiction. Very well-written, I was really invested in Pino and felt like I came to be friends with this courageous and resourceful young man.

A hard sci-fi book about a criminal caper. The biggest flaw is the voice of the first-person female narrator. The narration is lightly peppered with references and jokes that seem more like the thoughts of an adolescent boy than an sdult female. However, the caper is entertaining and the novel was worth my precious reading-time.
Rosemary Kennedy was developmentally delayed. Born at a time when these things were little understood and carried great stigma, her life spanned huge strides in the understanding of childhood development and special needs. What I gleaned from this book is how much of the current understanding of mental disabilities and disorders and protection of those who suffer is due to the experience of her politically powerful family.
My 14yo son asked for this book. He powered through it between stockings and supper at Grandma's. For three days now he's been sharing insights and wisdom from the book.
Couldn't put it down! Conceived just before Odysseus leaves for Troy, Xanthe's life is dominated by her father's absence. Oppressed by circumstances she can't control, nevertheless she grows into a woman who shapes her destiny with her own choices. If you liked The Red Tent, you will enjoy Penelope's Daughter.
