She's the 4th bestselling fiction author & has sold over 800 mil copies of her books. She's also an activist! She lost a son 20 yrs ago. In his honor she founded the Nick Traina Foundation to raise money for mental illness orgs. She also started the Yo! Angel Foundation, a street outreach program for San Francisco's homeless, to get them supplies/funds.
