so-soAnother great Squirrel Girl volume. This is the last one with this artist, so hopefully the next ones will be okay. This Volume seemed to have a more complicated story to it than some of the other ones. It was an okay story, not my favorite, but not the worst either.
SILVER SURFER and soup for supper! (So many S-things tonight.)
I still can‘t decide what kind of prose fiction I feel like, but I finished my nonfiction (ALL OF THE MARVELS by Douglas Wolk) and it left me with a terrible craving for Slott and Allred‘s SILVER SURFER (even though Wolk barely touched on it.) I‘m now two issues deep on this reread and I know I made a good choice.
Is there anything (comics-related) I love more than the page of Squirrel Girl twitter conversations at the start of each issue?
I DON'T THINK SO.
so-soThe few times I‘ve read Silver Surfer stories, from any writer, the tone was of philosophical waxing, the weirdness of the Universe, and epic galactic stakes. This book pairs the alien with a young, human girlfriend, amidst relationship mishaps and ‘fish out of water‘ humor. I‘ve really enjoyed this tone in countless other books I‘ve reviewed here, but I feel it doesn‘t quite work for with this particular character.

1. This was hard because everything I love starts with S. (Okay, not everything. Just lots of things.) I went with Silver Surfer because I haven‘t mentioned it on here I‘m a while and IT‘S SO GOOD, Y‘ALL.
2. Magnetic control, because I‘ve read literally 99% of the X-Men comics in existence and they‘ve taught me magnets can do AN.Y.THING.

More Squirrel Girl. More delicious gnocchi. Lunch was pretty great.
(Yes, I do put cilantro on everything savoury. I still have to throw out a goodly amount of each bunch because I can‘t use it fast enough.)

The Squirrel Girl recap page makes me SO HAPPY, especially when it references how Doreen believes all her friends with animalish code names can also talk to their namesake animals.
We must never forget the time she introduced Jonathan the Actual Wolverine to Gabby the Awesome Clone of a Clone of Wolverine. NEVER EVER EVER.
Really, all of Squirrel Girl is awesome. I grinned my way through this whole issue. #24in48
