“You are the only you in the whole world“

I enjoyed this book and think it would be good to use in class as a share for students with siblings, or when preparing young children for a new sibling or family changes!

Pickpick

The New Baby at Your House (1985) is a nonfiction book by Joanna Cole that helps young children understand and adjust to the arrival of a new sibling. Through simple text and illustrations, it explains what to expect and reassures kids about the changes a new baby brings to the family.

Aardvark Book Club's November challenge was a challenge! I only had the vowels e and a to work with. The challenge was to come up with a word stacking Aardvark books and using the first letter of the first word of the title. Each letter was worth a certain number of points. I came up the word watercress for 15 points.

Star in the Jar | Sam Hay

“A cheery, warm-hearted tale, beautifully told.“

Star in the Jar | Sam Hay

After reading Star in the Jar, students can create their own “star“ by decorating a paper cutout. They will write about something special they love and might struggle to let go of, just like the boy in the story. Then, students will share how letting go can sometimes lead to something beautiful, like the star returning to the sky.

In Star in the Jar, a little boy finds a lost star and decides to keep it, carrying it with him everywhere. But when the sky calls for its missing star, he and his sister must figure out how to return it, even if it means saying goodbye.
