After missing last months #20in4 I'm excited to be joining in again this time! I have 3 books and an audio on the go so I'm hoping to finish at least 2 of them this weekend!

Thanks @Andrew65

Andrew65 Great to have you with us again, good luck 😊👍 4y

I read this as part of my #dontjudgeabookbyitscoverchallenge in August and....unfortunately I was right in my judgement. It wasn't terrible, but not my style. The writing was very clipped and simplistic.
Hopefully my next book with a bad cover is better.

Do you prefer the crisp, white pages of a book fresh off the press or the ratty, yellowing pages of one that's had many previous owners?

I'm guilty of being a book snob sometimes so this August I'm doing a #DontJudgeABookByItsCoverChallenge where I read books I wouldn't normally pick up because of the cover.
I'm starting the month off with A Life Without Consequences.

Are you a cover snob too?

Lauram Yes, I am a cover snob. A pile of brand new books makes me happy. 6y
candority I‘m a cover snob, but mostly because I‘m afraid of the musty smell that some really old and well used books get. I buy the vast majority of my books used, but I always look for the ones in the best condition (and always do a sniff test) 😳 (edited) 6y
tome.fries @candority I know what you mean, that smell can be overpowering! 6y

#readingwomenmonth #indianauthor ive been reading to read the tagged book for a very long time and haven't got round to it. Also the wonderful madhur jaffrey, I taught myself to cook Indian food with this book and it's a classic!

Weaponxgirl Need to mention this as an amazing Indian authors book too @ephemeralwaltz @Andrew65 6y
Andrew65 Two great names, I definitely need to look at reading more non U.K. non. US female authors. This challenge is great for expanding my repertoire. 6y
Weaponxgirl @Andrew65 well I think meera says is U.K. Based but there are a ton of awesome Indian authors out there. This book is actually a spare for me as I have this on kindle. If your uk based I could send it to you? It's secondhand but still readable 6y

Pickpick

I'm so glad this OP series is now available electronically! Set in Highland Scotland, Janet is 8 in the beginning of the novel, & confused & frustrated by her family & community's use of the word "old maid."

Elliott labels this collection fiction as he does not trust his memories of youth, but the book is made of stories of his search for love and satisfaction of his submissive and masochistic sexual practices. Raw, unflinching, and brutally honest, this collection is not for everyone, but it is a well-written account of a troubled man making mistakes in his search for affection.

Still waiting for this book, The Snake Pit, to be added, but in 1946, it was blatantly apparent that the federally funded hospitals were in a severely compromised position. The mental health system in this country has become nearly nonexistent and it's because of defunding and shuttering of mental facilities. #mentalhealth #socialissues #semiautobiographical #MaryJaneWard #TheSnakePit
