Who doesn't love a storyline with a trip to hell and temporary superpowers? I admit when it comes to this run, I'm happiest when it centres on Nightwing helping out Bludhaven and interacting with the Batfam; I don't have as strong a grounding in the Teen Titans or Grayson's time with them. But this issue was certainly colourful and action packed!
Overall this series retains its fun and earnestness and that is key. ♥️

Mehso-so

I dunno, I knew the storybeats already, so the amount of focus on the schism between Bruce and Dick shouldn't surprise me, but when it comes to origin stories, I prefer the moments focusing on positive growth, rather than looking back to whatever darkness may have spawned the change. Also wasn't prepared for Jason's debut to be featured, which just adds to the darker father-son relationship dynamics. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? I'm definitely in the 'Bruce-is is-doing-his-best' camp versus the 'I demand absolute obedience from all my child soldiers' characterization camp. Happy to see Dick go back to his circus roots, to have the talk with Superman, but I guess my vision of Grayson is formed by a later iteration of Nightwing; this one feels a bit more brash and callous and it doesn't jibe well with my uniquely cobbled together sense of the character. 8mo
Robotswithpersonality 3/3 Likewise getting doormat vibes from Babs and it's not a good feeling. Hard thing for any one graphic novel artist and writing team to mesh with any one fan's unique composition of Batfam canon. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 8mo

Nite-Mite! Bitewing! Dick and Barb moments! The Hold?! Speaking truths about private prisons and the injustice of setting bail and basically broken justice system! Batman and Nightwing hug! Mentor moment where Nightwing shows the differences in his training style versus Batman's in encouraging Jon!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. 🥰

My fave DC couple. I love how Variant Cover Galleries inevitably include a little spice. 🌶️

Taylor & Redondo's Nightwing run is a balm for anyone weary of overly grimdark, nihilistic story-telling: heroes saving lives and helping their communities. This story is about the nature of your heart--literally and metaphorically. Plus, Dick & Babs are adorable.
