Pickpick

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a recommendation from my 5th grader who just read this for school. He loves learning about Native American history, even though it breaks his little heart, because he understands the importance. Told through the eyes of his daughter, Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce travel clandestinely through Wyoming attempting escape from American soldiers. It‘s a violent story; a hopeful but brutal read.

Suet624 I‘m glad the school is providing this book to the students. 2y
britt_brooke @Suet624 We have an amazing ELA curriculum. We love it! It‘s diverse, it‘s real, and it‘s challenging. Sadly, some very loud, very conservative voices want it removed. 2y

Essential American history. Nerburn is a serious thinker who can craft a book.

Oh, loves. These stories are so raw and affecting.
I did not expect to be brought to tears by this early morning reading but here we are.
Such brilliant portrayal of snatches of Native life.
