#BookReport

Only two books finished this last week. While I‘m enjoying being back in the office it is cutting into my reading time. I enjoyed the tagged book. A very timely fairytale.

Scary! First, the books. Then, the ideas. Finally, the ones who really scare the dictatorships, the ones with imagination.

Our children.

"And even though, time and time again, books had been presented to him as evil agents plotting to take over the world, and even though books had almost thrown him out of the house-not to mention biting his wife-he couldn't bear the thought of burning them. Banning them was punishment enough."

I‘m not usually a fan of satires, but I liked this one. Though it was a bit too close for comfort to our potential medium term future in the US. #tob25

I did not expect that ending! A quick moving look at the effects of censorship and attempts to control a population‘s thoughts and feelings. Important reading especially considering the state of the world. Dis I love it as much as everyone else seems to? No. #tob25

squirrelbrain I didn‘t love it as much as others either. 🤷‍♀️ 1mo
Pogue That ending was not what I expected either. 4w

This was a read. While I am not giving it 5 paws this will stick with me for a long while. Also Poirot said it passed inspection.

Dilara That is more or less what I thought of this book too 😃 1mo

A short book in translation about book censorship. It gets a pick from me, but I‘m glad it was short because it‘s all just been a lot lately.

I guess if all I‘m up for is books about cats solving mysteries I shouldn‘t be reading #TOB short list titles 😂

On to George!

squirrelbrain I hope George doesn‘t annoy you too much! 😬 1mo
Butterfinger @squirrelbrain I hope she is not married to a George like I am. I wanted to throw my book at his head every time he acted like my husband. I stayed mad while reading that book. 1mo
squirrelbrain I hope so too! 😬 @Butterfinger 1mo

The alternative is resistance, but you‘re too busy reading novels.

I really enjoyed this one! A translated work from Kuwait that is for book lovers. A great book for now with the book banning that is happening everyday. I love how Al-Essa weaves classics through the story, and how she shows what books can do for a person.
This was a super quick read that I tackled in 24 hours, highly readable and fun.

sarahbarnes Agreed! Great review. 1mo
Butterfinger I just put it on hold. 1mo

Hooked_on_books This was my favorite fiction book of 2024. I‘m amazed how she tackled such a heavy, often upsetting topic with such lightness. Wonderful book—I‘m so happy to see people reading it. 1mo
