Bailedbailed

It‘s pretty unusual for me to bail on something I‘m enjoying but this is just #goognotgreat and doesn‘t add much to the genre IMO. If you haven‘t read much #lgbtq lit this is a good intro to the queer scene in red state America circa the trump presidency, the type of activism there, and the flavor of found families these days. It‘s written by a trans ex-Mormon journalist so it focuses a lot on both those communities. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

IndoorDame There‘s some mention of intersectionality and racism in the south, but since that‘s not something the author experiences personally it‘s only just touched on. The various themes, interviews and personal memoir sections don‘t tie together all that well. And the memoir sections especially add very little. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 1y
IndoorDame While I do love all the positive/mundane accounts of trans experiences beginning to enter the conversation, for me to want to read a memoir where basically nothing happens it has to be all about a poetic writing style not a journalistic one. 1y
