I saw this ad on Facebook today. Normally, I would be so excited to buy ebooks from Amazon but now, I‘m rethinking buying any digital books. It makes me not want to hoard my ebooks or audiobooks anymore since I‘m only purchasing a license to read them. I like digital books though. I don‘t have to worry about finding space for them or deciding what to do with them after reading them. All I have to do is just delete them off of my phone.
Here‘s more from that post I saw today from a Facebook page I follow called Dog And A Book talking about Amazon‘s new change. I don‘t want to pirate books and I don‘t want to hurt authors. I downloaded my ebooks to my computer because I was worried about losing them. I thought I was doing the right thing saving them to my computer and just keeping them on my computer because if I lose my ebooks then I won‘t have any way to get them back.
I follow a page on Facebook called Dog And A Book and she posted about Amazon‘s new change where Amazon isn‘t going to allow people to download books to their computer anymore and here‘s a few things she said about it. I wish I would‘ve seen her post about it before I downloaded my ebooks to my computer. I‘m still trying to process the fact that for years since owning a Kindle that I‘ve never actually owned my ebooks.
I just finished adding the Kindle files into a folder on my computer I created just for books and it didn‘t take me very long to do at all because I just selected all the files at once and moved them to the books folder. Now that they‘re on my computer, I could move them to another e-reader or just keep them on my computer. I would recommend downloading your ebooks from Amazon while you can because on Feb 26, you won‘t be able to.
I just finished downloading all of my Kindle ebooks to my computer. I had 2 ebooks that I wasn‘t able to download for some reason. They probably deleted them from their website and I deleted some that I wasn‘t going to reread. I have 3,454 books. I started downloading all of them on Wednesday and I just finished downloading all of them on Saturday at 4 AM. I‘m glad that‘s done. All I have to do next is put them in a folder on my computer.

I‘m not buying ebooks or audiobooks from Amazon anymore. I‘ll buy ebooks or audiobooks somewhere else or directly from an author‘s website. They don‘t want us to own our ebooks and I don‘t think they want us to even own our audiobooks so I‘ll either borrow books from Libby or Kindle Unlimited.

Libby is a good alternative. I used Thrift Books before. I haven‘t tried the other ones mentioned here but they sound good. After finding out that we don‘t actually own our ebooks or audiobooks and that we‘re just purchasing a license to access the content, using Libby or Kindle Unlimited is starting to sound better to me. If I want to own something then I‘ll buy it.
Tonight, I downloaded more of my ebooks from Amazon. Earlier from 7-9 PM, I worked on this and stopped on page 74. I had to update my software on my computer but then tonight from 11:30 PM-2 AM, I downloaded some more and I stopped on page 100 out of 142 pages. I‘m stopping tonight and I‘ll start again tomorrow.
I‘ve made a lot of progress on downloading more of my ebooks to my computer. I downloaded books for 5 hours and 30 minutes tonight and I‘m still not done yet. I have 3,529 books. I made it to page 58 out of 142 pages of books on my Amazon account. I stopped on page 58. I have until Feb 26 to download my ebooks. I‘m stopping tonight and starting again tomorrow. My hand is tired.
